Where can I get an application form?

Application forms can be downloaded from our website at www.icot.ie or by contacting ICOT Admissions, 28 Westmoreland Street Dublin 2, Ireland. Send completed application forms together with relevant documents to the above address or to info@icot.ie

What is the application fee?

The application fee is 100 Euro. This is a non-refundable administration charge and unfortunately we are unable to process application until payment is received.

How will I know if you have received my application?

ICOT Admission staff will process your application within one working day from receipt. You or an agent working on your behalf will be contacted with a decision in that time. If accepted an Offer Letter will then be sent to you or your agent.

Can I apply for more than one course at a time?

There is a provision to apply for up to three courses on each application by listing in order of preference. Admission staff will endeavour to offer places on the preferred courses depending on relevant qualifications and demand.

What is the closing date for each intake?

There is no set closing date for each intake. There are a limited number of places on each course and places are allocated on a first-come first-serve basis. To ensure your place on your preferred course give yourself plenty of time to apply early.

Can I defer my place?

Courses can be deferred for up to one year, after which students will have to re-apply. However, ICOT cannot guarantee that there will be places available on the preferred courses in later semesters as popular courses may fill up months in advance.

How is the academic year structured?

Two semesters per year consisting of 12 weeks of lectures and 1 week for exams. Both semesters are separated by a 3 month holiday. Exam timetables vary depending on the course.

How many intakes are there per year?

There are four intakes (start dates) per year - January, April, July, October.

Do I need a visa to study in Ireland?

Contact ICOT Admissions at info@icot.ie to find out if citizens from your country require visas to enter Ireland and study here. Our staff can advise you on what documents you need to apply for the visa and the procedure involved.

What are the minimum educational requirements to apply?

Each application is treated individually, so send your application with the relevant documents to ICOT admissions and we will let you know or contact admissions staff using the above contact details for information.

Is there a minimum English competency requirement?

There is no minimum requirement for those wishing to take part in our English language programmes.
For other courses the requirement varies from course to course depending on the difficulty of the course. Send your application with the relevant documents to ICOT admissions and we will let you know or contact admissions staff using the above contact details for information.
ICOT are happy to facilitate students on any course to also take English competency exams such as Cambridge English or ESOL International.

Can I pre-arrange accommodation before coming to Ireland?

ICOT can arrange temporary accommodation on a weekly basis if students so wish. Contact info@icot.ie for details.

Do I need health insurance to study in Ireland?

It is a requirement to have your own health insurance before applying for a visa to study in Ireland. ICOT can arrange this for you. Contact info@icot.ie for details.

Can I get advice on what to do after my course?

The Director of Studies can advise students on all options available to them after completion of their courses.

Can I transfer to a University degree after my course?

Yes, our courses are part of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and therefore can enable students to get exemptions for up to three years of a four year degree depending on the level of courses and the degree of choice.

Are the courses part-time or full-time?

All courses at ICOT are classed as full time courses - this means a minimum of 15 hours per week and 25 weeks per year.
Some courses may be offered with different timetable options to suit students' needs.

What sports facilities are there in ICOT?

ICOT Sports Club will arrange soccer and tag-rugby leagues over the summer period. In August, ICOT Sports Club will organise a cricket match one-day event. Other sporting events may be arranged based on demand.
