Student Life in Dublin
For centuries Ireland has had a reputation for excellence in education and as a result of sustained
investment in this area, Ireland continues to have one of the most highly regarded education systems
in the world contributing to the growing knowledge economy of the country. With 40 % of the population
under 25, Ireland is also one of the most exciting places in the world to be a student.
At ICOT our dedicated staff aim to make your transition from home to Dublin as smooth as possible and
are committed to ensure that students maximise not only their academic potential, but also enjoy the
experience from both a cultural and social point of view. Whatever your interests, Dublin has a lot to
offer. Participating in some of the activities or sports organised by the many clubs in the city can be
an exciting and rewarding way of making new friends and beginning your new lifestyle in Dublin.
ICOT's central location in the city centre allows students to benefit from the widest variety of
accommodation, restaurants, cinemas, museums, art galleries, theatres, places of worship, shops, sports
clubs and nightclubs. Temple Bar for instance, famously one of the most vibrant areas in Dublin and
features many popular restaurants and pubs, is just walking distance from the college.
Dublin is at the heart of Ireland's transport system and so is the perfect base from which to explore
all the country has to offer every weekend or over the term holidays. For people who prefer outdoor
activities such as hill walking, horse riding, surfing, wind surfing and sailing, they can hop on a bus
or train and quickly get to other parts of the country where such facilities are readily available.
